It’s because it’s not really about life, it’s about control.

And when abortion bans are strict, women die.
Had I become pregnant in a state with a strict abortion ban, it would cost me my life.
“But there’s exceptions for the health of the mother!”

Sure, in theory there are.
But we don’t live in theory, we live in reality.
We live in a world that denies women tubals and hysterectomies because of what a future man MIGHT want.
When abortion is criminalized, doctors risk jail time for ending a pregnancy.

If you think every doctor will put the life of their patient above their own freedom, you’re kidding yourself.
If you think the life of the mother comes before a man and a fetus, you’re kidding yourself.

If you think women won’t be prosecuted for miscarriages, you’re kidding yourself.
If you think that misogyny isn’t driving these decisions, you’re kidding yourself.

You have to let us control our own bodies.
You have to admit that the government has no business determining who should or shouldn’t remain pregnant.
No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy they can’t handle, don’t want or can’t support.

No one should be forced to keep an organ inside them that they don’t need and that’s putting their health at risk.
No one else should be making these decisions for us.
Please recognize this is about so much more than abortion.

It’s about life, health and freedom.
It’s about being able to choose what’s best for us and our families.
It’s about saying no to patriarchy, misogyny and saying “Yes” to full bodily autonomy /end
I ended up begging for a hysterectomy, because my uterus was too diseased to bear children & endometriosis/adenomyosis left me completely disabled.

They delayed for years for a hypothetical man.
